IW3280 is a base reference in the IWC Pilot's Watch Automatic line. IWC adds a suffix for dial color, strap, and market. Miyota 9015 at 28,800 vph and 42 hours of reserve, or a Seiko NH35 at 21,600 vph and 41 hours. Both hack and hand wind. The Miyota beats smoother. The NH35 is cheaper to replace.
High tier, $450 to $800
Decorated clone with an engraved rotor, low hand stack, AR-coated sapphire, and tighter case finishing. These get closest on dial details.
The genuine watch uses an IWC in-house automatic. IWC lists 120 hours of power reserve for the current Pilot's Watch Automatic generation. No copy reaches that.

- Index edges: sharp on good copies, rounded or thick on cheap ones
- Lume fill: level with the index top, no overflow
- Date window: centered in the aperture, font weight matching the dial text
- Crown: threads engage in one turn, no wobble when screwed down
