Short answer
An imitation Rolex Submariner 41 is a third-party watch built to match the 41mm Submariner that Rolex launched in 2020. It is not made by Rolex, not authorized by Rolex, and not serviceable by Rolex. In the United States the watch is a counterfeit trademarked good. Selling one, or importing one, carries federal penalties. Personal ownership is not a federal crime under 18 U.S.C. 2320, but customs officers can seize and destroy the watch at the border.

The genuine 41mm Submariner
Rolex replaced the 40mm Submariner with a 41mm case in 2020. Three references matter:
- 124060: no date, black bezel.
- 126610LN: date window, black bezel.
- 126610LV: date window, green bezel.
Shared specs: 41mm case diameter, 21mm lug width, about 12.4mm case thickness, about 155 grams on the Oyster bracelet. 904L stainless steel, which Rolex calls Oystersteel. Ceramic bezel insert with a platinum-coated scale. Sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating under the cyclops. Water resistance rated to 300 meters. The 124060 uses caliber 3230. The 126610 uses caliber 3235. Both run at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a 70-hour power reserve and a minus 2 to plus 2 second per day rating.
Rolex does not sell movements, cases, dials, or bracelets to third parties. A replica cannot contain new Rolex-made parts.
What replica versions use
Case sizes are listed from 40.5mm to 41.5mm. 316L steel is common. Some sellers claim 904L. Bezel inserts are ceramic, aluminum, or plated metal, and the platinum coating is not present. Crystals are sapphire or mineral glass. Movements fall into three groups: Seiko NH35 at 21,600 vibrations per hour, Miyota 8215 or 9015, and ETA 2824 clones or copied 3235 movements at 28,800. Water resistance claims run from 30 meters to 300 meters, and most listings show no pressure test report. Lume is weaker and fades faster than Chromalight.
Price bands
Listings in the replica market run from about $50 to about $600. The low band has plated inserts and mineral glass. The mid band has a 316L case, sapphire crystal, and an NH35 or Miyota movement. The top band claims a copied 3235 movement and 904L steel. Prices above $1,000 exist. Genuine retail is set by Rolex and has changed several times since 2020. Legal status in the US
18 U.S.C. 2320 covers trafficking in counterfeit goods. A first offense carries up to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $2,000,000 for an individual. Customs and Border Protection seizes counterfeit goods at the border and destroys them. Trademark owners can sue under the Lanham Act. Statutory damages run from $1,000 to $200,000 per counterfeit mark per type of goods, and up to $2,000,000 if the use is willful.
Checks before you buy
Measure the case with calipers. Weigh the watch. Ask for the movement model and beat rate. Ask for a pressure test report with a date. Check the date font and the cyclops magnification, which is 2.5x on the genuine crystal. Inspect the rehaut engraving, the dial print, and the laser-etched coronet at 6 o'clock on the crystal. Ask for the serial and reference. A serial number printed on a replica has no factory record behind it.
Service and parts
Rolex service centers do not service counterfeit watches. Independent watchmakers can work on third-party movements such as the NH35 or a 2824 clone. Rolex does not sell spare parts to independent shops. A repair that needs a Rolex dial, bezel insert, or bracelet end link has no genuine source.
